What are the tips to get a little power/speed from Powerquest boats:
34' with 454 mags 385hp....does 70-71 on gps with rigth water conditions/triming. Factory props. Want low 70's (if I keep the boat).
38' with 502 415hp...does 68-70...been reproped with 4 blades....want low 70's. I am looking at buying this boat. Extra weight with AC and generator.
Am I forced into re-power/re-build or are there bolt-ons thta could get the extra HP to move the boat.
In either case I don't want to sacrifice low speed performance.
Thanks and happy holidays.

I'm not sure you are going to get what you want with just some minor changes. The longer and heavier the boat, the harder it is to pick up speed. It sounds like you may need to go with a supercharger. That will give you the added power for your speed increase and still maintain good manners on low speed. However your present engines must be in good condition. Many people on this board has done this.

Whipple Superchargers. We have developed a new top mount system for the 454ci and 502ci engines. Replacment intake manifold and intercooler, 2100 CFM throttle body 8 new larger size injectors. Similer to the top mount system for the 500 HP. Complete fuel system upgrade and a bag full of other goodys that will get you back to the dock a heck of a lot faster. WANNNA RACE???
