Does anyone know where I can buy the metallic blue paint they use on HP500 motors? Color codes?
Thanks John

HyperBaja 01-20-2003 06:44 PM

Black.... Lets it warm up faster and plus it came like that from Mecruiser!!

If I had a choice it would be Red block to match the boat.

Johno,

Part # 92-822825-1

That's off the can and should be available from any Merc dealer.

BTW it's called High Performance Blue Metalic but I have not seen any increase in speed:eek: :D

Just picked Blue for my new (rebuilt) engine. I was torn between tht and red witch would kind of match some of the trim on the upholstery. Does it really matter though since it is usually covered up?

Don't think that you are the only one out there with pink engines :D . The mighty TONTO has them too.

Well, I tried to post a picture, but I guess the computer is smarter than me

Well Ike has Pink engines too in War Party so we are all not alone.

Hey you separate the engine hatches, and it is all pink inside
that is the way it is supposed to be right?
Or at least that was the way it was last time I checked.

The color scheme on my boat is blue tones. So I went with a custom "slap you in the face" electric blue which has a white pearl base.

Kieth can you please find out who made your hatch lift for me. Looks like it would work well in my boat. I have been looking for a while.

Thanks
Jon

Keith 02-14-2003 03:12 PM

Jon,

It's the same one as found in the Eddie Marine catalog, but came factory installed from Wellcraft. All I know about it is the motor is a Warner brand. There are local motor repair shops in the Maryland area that carry those motors, rebuilts, and last year I had to send it out for a $110 replacement.

How I found out was from asking some of the guys in my marina, 2 of which are mechanics. They gave me the name of a place who stocks the rebuilt motors, they also have the actuator assemblies. I would suggest the same for you, ask some of the local marine repair shops who they send their actuators to for repair, contact them directly and see if they have any rebuilt units. You can also find them on e-Bay from what Ted (insptech) recently mentioned.

That particular model of hatch lift allows me to lift the hatch almost completely by hand, comes in handy if you have a dead battery. Hope this helps.

Big Block Billy 03-04-2004 09:46 AM

Black , With Bright Green M/T valve covers. I like to use the krylon with ceramic. I painted the aluminum head and intake on my Volvo with it 5 years ago, it looks like it was painted yesterday. I like POR engine enamel too.
I've used the por engine paint on cars and boats , It really stands up well, and dries rock hard and lays out nice ,fills and smooths and has an awesome shine.
I don't use it much because it takes too long to dry. Apx 1 week. BBB

blown formula 03-05-2004 12:37 AM

Blocks, heads & all accessories are purple. Valve covers (two piece-Keith Eikert) are yellow. Intake is Diamond effect metallic with a Red Dominator. Flame arrestors are yellow. Bright engine for ma colorful boat...... pictures to follow soon. The boat is still in the paint shop. Use your imagination. Do it your way!! Every one said I was crazy and now they like them, so go for it!! Black is for "stock" stuff. If it's modified, let it show. That's part of the fun!:D
