How do you give it the satin finish? Fine media blast?

Cord 01-07-2003 01:12 PM

I believe that it's done during buffing. They just stop at a coarser wheel.

you are all in the hat !!!!!!!!!!!

testing can be done later,as it is still winter, but we use a spiral sewed loose buff 18"wheel turning 1,750 rpm using a formax product called p-b80 satin glo this produces a great brushed look finish, polishing takes alot more work and sure looks great I have noticed Mercury labbed props are all satin unless other wise specfied.:D we have been high polishing all of are lab jobs but this is soon to change,BUT THIS WILL ALSO KEEP THE PRICE DOWN AND THE SPEED UP,If the test results come out like I think they will.:D

Darin,
Is this "satin" the same finish you put on my 23" Mirage Plus? It still had a "shiny" appearance to it, but no where near a "polished" finish.

Don Man ,yours is a satin finished prop.:D just looked at the paper work,my memory not that good, thanks to Kim who keeps me in line. :D I do remember that you did not gain as much as you wanted to and Iquote that we will have to thin the blades out alot more,if you want I am willing to do this for you . Darin

I'm suprised that you're not using a 3m deburring wheel. If you havn't tried one, you don't know what you're missing.

I would be interested in conducting this test as well. But, I can't get to the water until early May. I have a '99 259 Convincor. I was also tossing around the idea of re-propping. I am currently running a 24" Bravo 4 blade. I spin it to 5000 r.p.m. I was thinking of a labbed 26" Bravo as a possible alternative.
