CAREFULL WHAT YOU USE!!!

A few years back i stripped a set of throttles...i dont remember what i used but i guess it must have been some cheap stuff. Anyway what the powder coater tried to coat the throttles later he had a tough time with them cause there was a residual solvent in the metal and it made the powercoating bubble when they heated it up! The re-did the base plates twice before it stopped!

Dyno,

I wouldn't kid you...it worked great! Clean, little mess and the dabber worked better than having to soak the parts and waste cleaner. Try it, you'll be amazed as I was.

Wally is right! The parts must be free of any and all foreign substances.
Some powdercoaters will even preheat the parts to bring to the surface and burn off any residue before applying the coating. For example with valve covers and carb parts, oil and gas will actually penetrate the metal itself, only to come to the surface when heated during the powdercoating process. Just because it looks and feels clean, doesn't mean it is. Just a heads up.

Carb cleaner should remove any residue, I'd guess...

Hey HPJunkie...

Nice job on the polishing job!!!

I noticed the valve covers - It took me quite a few hours to grind off the finish off of those... Nothing would take it off.

I haven't the guts to do what you did... Good job. Where do you get this stuff???

I have since moved on to the 2-piece valve covers, so mine are availiable if you what them????
