I need a little help!
Ok, I'll admit, I'm new to the boating world, but am already in love
But I am confused and have a few questions, why is my boyfriend taking out his motors before he has new ones?!
My other question, he says he needs to get it done in three weeks, can he accomplish it if he works for 1 hour a day? (they're 2 454s... don't ask me any other technical questions, I'm impressed I know what a 454 is!!!)
Thanks!

There's a lot of items that need to be transfered to the new motors and it's easier/faster to pull the old ones, remove what needs to be attached to the new ones.
He can also clean the engine compartment, re-rout wires, cables, etc. If he waits till the new ones come in it'll take longer or some things just won't get done.
If he sees that some of the hoses or other items need replacing, he can get them now without running around trying to find them last minute. Also some items might need to be ordered which will slow him down.
It's better to pull them out now, see what you have and what you'll need. A rushed job never goes well.
As for working one hour a day....no.
Some things simply take longer than an hour to accomplish.

Fortunately for me I can run around naked without a boat
so our relationship isn't in danger... but thanks for the reply... do you think there is anything I can do to help him (It's not the boat I'm afraid of, it's the repair bill!) I can take apart a car engine and work on it, even put it back together!... is it the same thing?

It will be about 8 hours each motor to redress it. About 3 to undress. Naturally, that's assuming that you're not running around naked.

Sounds like your not afraid to get your hands dirty or chip a nail. That's good.
You're right, it is like a car engine only more specialized.
Go ahead, offer to help. I know I wouldn't turn down assistance.
In fact, I have trouble getting the wife to do anything with the boat besides go out in it.
