Boy,

I get excited every time I see a new post to my alpha L/H rotation question. But, the posts do not relate to my question....

JimmyBaja,
Here's something that relates to your topic.
If you are considering switching to Bravo's, you will need to increase the horse power of your engines. I have spoken to people that have done this swap and they have lost speed. My guess is it's the larger gears in the Bravo's that are harder to turn and the larger lower unit creating more drag.

Dont forget, Bravos are a few hundred pounds more than an Alpha. I would bet the standard Bravo 1.5 is what that Alpha is at now with the big blocks.

I know in some drives you can flip a switch to get reverse direction, can you do that in an Alpha? I would like to try that and see if anything is gained out of it.

you cannot run an alpha or for that fact a TRS drive in reverse like the bravos. You must get a counter rotating drive.

I am looking for a good deal on an alpha counter rotating drive. So if anyone knows of a new or rebuilt around, let me know.
Replacing with Bravos is more than I want to speed on this boat. I'll upgrade instead to a newer model in a couple years.
Thanks, Jim
