HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
So when do you expect to get those engines back, anyway??
Ateco was 4 weeks behind schedule and only $4000.00 over the agreed budget on my engines.
The ONLY saving grace is the engines dyno'd at 574h.p. and are supposedly bullet-proof. We'll see.

So now...I've got my slow-assed marina (D's) supposedly working on getting the drives/engines back in. Engines have been there for over 2 weeks and they just started yesterday. Funny though....the boat has just been sitting for 3 months there and I've pretty much ordered all my own parts (trim tab, engine couplers, p/s pump, mercathodes, batteries...seems they were too busy to preorder what they needed to get everything back together and I was damned if I was going to hear excuses about not being able to get parts. Not too bright. They could have at ANYTIME started on the transom plates but noooooo.....

And....my 1972 Blazer is at Absolute Sound getting my stolen stereo equipment replaced....3 weeks to do the job! And by buying my equipment on line I saved $3200.00!! I'm sure that pissed 'em off.
And...I just bought a 1999 3/4 ton Suburban and Performance Unlimited has taken 2 weeks just to ORDER my 6 inch lift kit...can't wait to see how long they take to actually install it.

I swear....the economy must be kicking f-ing ASS - because everyone I have to deal with is so busy they don't know what to do with themselves.

Saw you over the weekend in the boat...what engines are you running now? I thought the 500hp's were going in at the beginning of this year?

G
I have been messing with all the other stuff
Full to the helm steering
new interior
CMI pipes
and sall the odds and ends for the motors
Motors are all torn down and I just need to make a few final decision on them
They will be akot like yours I am looking for 575 hp
The old motors are still running strong so the new one will be a fall/winter install

Default Dual Plane intake with...

A dual plane intake with a 850 Holley Marine carb will work great. Get an Edelbrock RPM Performer. If you are going to keep the rectangle port heads you should never go with a single plane manfold. The runner and plenum combination is too big for any rpm range below 6000.

Keep the lobe centerlines tight on the cam, around 110 degrees. With a tight lobe centerline you can run less duration. Less duration will prevent water from being sucked back into the cylinder during valve overlap. A little more exhaust duration than intake will also help. Shoot for 224 degrees intake and 230 degrees exhaust with a moderate amount of lift, say around .525 to .540 inches. With a camshaft like this you can keep the stock springs after they have been tested by a good machinest.

A three angle valve job is fine, you don't need to go for extra flow by spending large amounts of money on a fancy valve job. Those rectangle port heads are too big already!

The final determination of horsepower will be in the exhaust system. The finest header style exhaust (with individual tubes) will be needed to get you to 550 with this modest and dependable engine combo.

Don't spend any money on your ignition system and run the stock jetting in the carb. Champion RV15YC4 spark plugs gapped at .045 will work perfectly. Have fun!
Sincerely
Dennis Moore
