18' GLASTRON = BOSS 302= 7500 rpm
25' CHECKMATE= 638HP 454 = 6000 rpm
34' SCARAB = Twin 600 HP 502's = 5800 rpm
I ran MSD on the Glastron and the Checkmate
Thinking on putting it on the Scarab

Lightbulb High RPM endurance engines probably make for a fair test bed...

Well, if it works well in high 9000-10,000RPM engines it's probably going to work well in engines turning lesser RPM ranges one would think---right?

anybody know anything about these units?

http://www.jandssafeguard.com/NewProduct.html

been talking to the owner. He has quite a loyal following with import turbo tuners and SCCA racers. His marine unit has a lot of flexibility and he also offers a dash unit that can repeat the output of an O2 sensor and shows retard conditions...

MO POWER NELSON (blackburn ) USED TO,, MAYBE THREE YEARS AGO INSOLATE PARTS IN 6ALN BOXS TOPROTECT THEM ,WHEN MSD FOUND IT WAS A TRUE PROBLEM THEY BEGAN MOVEING SO PART APART AND FILLING WITH A EPOXY ! YOU WON'T GET THE BOX APART NOW !! ALSO YES LIKE EVERYTHING BREAKS SO DID THE MSD BUT YOU CAN;T GUESS HOW BAD THE OTHERS WERE ,!!!
THE M S D BREAKING WAS STILL BETTER THAN OTHER UNITS THIS IS WHY THEY NASCAR STAYED WITH THEM !!

MOPOWER I THINK YOU'VE SNIFFED TO MANY (GAS ???) FUMES
I WAS CLEARLY TALKING NASCAR !!! CLEARLY !!
GLAD IT WASN'T ROCKETS

CRANE IS A GOOD UNIT WELL RESEARCHED

THE 7AL M S D MAKE A HOTTER SPARK ,BUT USE THE RIGHT COIL
AND A 6 IS ALL WE NEED AND THE 6AL IS NOW EPOXY FILLED AS THE MARINE UNIT AND CHEAPER ,THE REV LIMITER IS NOT AS GOOD BUT STAY OFF IT AND IT WORKS GREAT !!!!!

Well,
I wish I had the article from a few years ago. I was Hot Rod or Super Chevy...they did a test on a dyno of ignition systems
Bobby D. YOU ARE CORRECT ,MSD produced the most horspower and the highest rpm
BUT good olde 1930 technology had the lead up to 5000 rpms , yeah that's right 1930 "POINTS". We're only talking 4 or 5 hp but points had a clear advantage. After 5000 rpm's the physical constraints of springs , cams and contacts when to hell and the advantages of electronic ignition came into it's own. GM HEI took over after points and MSD produced the most.
But having seen too many MSD's on the junk pile , from drag , dirt track and boats and given the fact I only turn my BB's in the low "5" , I'll prescribe to the K.I.S.S. theory.

YOU MUST BE BEATING THEM WITH HAMMERS,,, I;M AROUND THEM DAILY ON THE DYNO AND CAR AND BOATS AND THEY ARE GREAT,, I'M SOLD BY PROOF !!!!!

JUST USE WHAT MAKES YOUR 271 SCREAM AND BE HAPPY \

USE WHAT YOU WANT REALLY ,LATER
