Got a 502mpi with Whipplecharger. I've read some past threads on heads. I was told I need around a 320 to 325 runner, 119 chamber,2.30 to 2.25 intake. Not sure If I can afford them CNC'd, but if it is advantages to save some more money up to buy them, I guess I'll take the plunge.
Also what kind of HP increase would I expect to see. I've heard 70 to 90 HP?? Does this sound to unreasonable??
Does anyone know who has good deals on heads? I know there not cheap, but I'm looking.
KAAMA, from the OSO board is also looking for me.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Shawn

29scarab, there are many advantages to aluminum heads. They save weight, they dissipate heat better than iron so they are less likely to detonate, they are more easily modified, and they are repairable, just to name a few.
Brodix 2 Extras have worked well for me in the past. AFR is even better. Darts run great, but are very light.
100 horsepower is not unreasonable for the increase.
Just did two 500EFI with 8.9:1, no blower, flat top pistons, .030" overbore, Merlin iron rectangle port 310cc, Crane cam. Made over 600 on the dyno. I know you have the Whipples, but the same kind of performance increase can be expected. Aluminum is my preference, but the less expensive iron is a good alternative.
I have some good connections for heads, some very good used ones, or new. Give me some specs and I'll recommend the head I would use. I have tried most of them, but not all.

I agree with Blown, there are numerous advantages to the aluminum pieces.
I only used their small block heads, and the quality of the machine work / casting qualit was great, but you may want to consider canfileds. They are reasonabley prices, and they flow well (supposedly). I know you can also get CNC chambers at a reasonable price. I got mine from competition products in Wisconson, & they'll set them up for your application. Or check them out at www.competitionproducts.com I think they have a 325 and a 375 cc version
All I can say, is that if (when) I build big blocks, I'll definitely consider them.
Maybe someone else can step in here and give some feedback on these that have used them in a big block applicaiton.
