US1 Fountain ran the 741 with good results so I did not want to deviate from his setup without a good reason. I'm all over that one! Got the shiny object in the downstairs garage, Dan and I are getting the jet and PV numbers. Just a came upstairs to get a pencil. Looks like 124's in front. I better start tossing 20's in the jar for gas! Did you happen to replace the top oil fill plug? The manual says that the fill plug has a small hole in it for a vent, the plug I am seeing has no hole. Oh well, it worked all this time. Tim T. |
Tim, I have already persued the plug conscern.
If you run the plug with the hole, I think it was around .020, you will get a nice film spray on the bottom of your hatch and all over the top of the blower. Ain't cool! I talked with The Blower Shop about this 2 yrs ago thinking the front oil seal was bad. They said it was from a slight pressureizing of the front housing when you get into the boost. The seal is a single lip orientated to keep the oil in, so naturally little pressure on the back side will blow past it. Holley/ B&M now recommended to use the solid plug and just change the gear oil at least once a yr, according to Blower Shop. You'll be fine as is. I think all 4 corners have same jetting. Jerry |
OK, on the plug. Documentation was probably for automotive. My guess is that in a car there is enough air blowing around under the hood to carry it away. Checked the rear jets, they are 134's with blocked off PV. Did you ever consider installing the rear PV and boost referencing it? That would be a question for the blower shop I suppose.

It wasn't broke, and I couldn't see how it could have ran any better, so left it as you have it. Those jets do sound a tiny large, huh? :) Like I said before, my transom was always spotless. Maybe Blown and 1500 may have better thoughts. Getting out of my league as far as changes. The new red metering gaskets are for the carb as is, I just never installed them. They do have a couple of extra holes from the installed ones, but If you study the flow passages, you will notice they are more or less blind holes. The green gaskets are from when Bruce referenced it and installed the JER metering blocks. I thought the red would go with the powdercoating better. :) It's all about looks! |
How do you guys chage the oil in these Blowers ? Suck it out the
bottom hole ? |
