Default Who made or makes the "SX" red fuel pump?

I have the red SX fuel pump that procharger supplied with their stage one kit in 1999. Does anyone know who makes that pump and will it last long? Is it a continuos duty unit? Greg

aeromotive makes them. I ran one for a few years no problems. You may do a search in the tech area since they did have problems with a seal or something for a period.

The SX your refering to is made made by Fluid Control Products and it's refered to as an Essex fuel pump. Aeromotive and Essex are very similar, but Aeromotive is an extruded case with the mounting bracket built in where Essex is a round housing and needs universal mounts.

Thanks,
Dustin

Is there anything wrong with the SX that either of you are aware of? Thanks Greg

Procharger switched from the SX pumps to the Aeromotive several years ago. I forget the exact reason, but I do know two guys that had major problems with the SX. The original Aeromotive had problems with delamination. This has since been addressed by Aeromotive. You're better off replacing it before you have problems. Hot boat just did a write up of the new Aeromotive A1000, claim its good for 2400 hours! Costs around
$ 285.00. Pretty cheap insurance against a lean condition. I recommend a filter after the pump and a larger fuel/water separator prior to the pump.

We've used both with our systems and have not had any problems. I do like the rubber mounts of the Essex, tends to be less vibration in some boats, but the Aeromotive can be easier to remote mount. Not sure that helped but my .02 cents.

Thanks,
Dustin
