Msd 6m-2
I picked up an Msd 6m2 box for my 502 mag/mpi with
wire harness anyone hook these up? where did you mount it ? Is this a simple unplug plug in install? Thanks in advance |
They are very easy to hook up, it's not a unplug and plug, but pretty easy. When you hook it up make it so if it go's bad you can just unplug and go back to stock you will have to go get another plug mine didn't come with one's to do that with.I had to rewire my buudy's boat on the water to get him home because the guy who set it up hard wired it in and that suck's,make sure you buy weather head plugs. Just mount it in a good spot where it will cool well easy to get to if you have a problem and looks cool

actually the msd makes a wiring harness for that coil...2, 2 pin plugs..you can plug it right in...i did a lot of testing with that engine...by the way, if it's stock...you'll gain nothing with just an msd.

LoR is correct again...they do fail more often than you would like....mount it so the stocker can be switched back over quick

but it help's to keep the back of the boat from turning black, I must have got mine to long ago to get the correct plugs.
|
That's why I am hooking the MSD up. I was told on a 100% stock boat it will do nothing but keep the boat from turning black. I was told it will burn more of the fuel, keeping the exhaust a bit cleaner. That all I am really looking for.

your running 87 i hope! and not 89 or higher!
|
It will do that. Now you can put a better air filter on, up the fuel psi. a little play with the timming some. You wont pick up a lot of hp but some depending how bad it's out of tune now, but it will feel a lot better.

I run 87 in my sonic with 500efi's it still turned black after a long weekend. Not like cho cho train black but bad enough to make me out the msd on.
|
I really didn't get into super tuning it yet. I hang out on my boat. when I wanna drive fast i jump on my buddy's boat. I was just looking for a cleaner running engine Ha Ha No more black on back. maybe I'll go for the filter and regulator. The reg is just bolt on and tune with a gauge on it like a car I presume. I run 89 in it I guess maybe I'll run 87 in it this year.
