"Runs new" say's that they don't have any of the 502's right now and don't know when the will be in stock. That's what they told me on the 24th.

The engines that you're all referring to are production engines, no roller rockers, Inconel valves, good head gaskets, or hardware. They are stock built, and will not last in the marine enviroment, as well as a custom built engine. The price is cheap, but you get what you pay for. We've had customers who have used the engines mentioned above, and had tons of problems w/ them. We offer a few different custom built engines in this price range, all built w/ top shelf parts. Feel free to call if interested.

Hi Total,
Actually this is what they say on their website: Recon installs Crane cam, roller lifters, roller rockers and other valve train components plus a few other go fast secrets Includes valve covers, hydraulic roller lifters, flywheel, 8 qt. marine oil pan, and timing cover I also spoke with another supplier where I can get a stock GM long block 502 for $3800.00 brand new. I don't want to have to do the work to upgrade to 500. I'll give you a call in the AM. Mongo |
I also have the new 502-435 from them and no problems. They may not have rollers or inconel valves but there is nothing wrong with the head gasket they use.

FYI to anyone needing motors, I have a nearly new set of GM ZZ 502's for sale. I put them in a year or so ago and then had some health problems.
Anyway they are out of my boat with 25-30 hours on them. very clean carb to pan. I have older 38 Scarab and they pushed it along trouble free. PM serious inquiries |
502
Bad girl
Will you seperate the pair? If so, how much each? |
Floridian Son,
The engines my customer bought had 4 warranty claims. Leaking water between head and block(We then installed New head gaskets and had to add head shims) Bent all pushrods Low compression in one engine Seized oil pump Again, These may have been a crazy occurence, but my customer was down for 16 months, and the motors don't even have 20 hrs on them. I am speaking only from the experience we've had. High performance engines can't just be thrown together with any parts. We work too hard all week to be stuck wrenching everytime we want to take the boat out. The new 435 HP long block is a great engine, with upgraded parts and cylinder head port work they easily make over 500HP, but the work must be done correctly and meticulously. Steve |
Steve, when were these engines purchased? 2 yrs. ago I bought the last one made in the USA. Now they are being assembled in Mexico. Could there be possible quality problems?
|
Hi-Perf. engines....Made in MEXICO ????!!!???
