Default props with a 1:36 gear Bravo 1

I have a 94 Baja with a 502 and a whipple charger. I am having problems coming up with a prop. I was running a 22 Mach. It was 14 " diameter. I have tried a 22 bravo with no success. I have been told that the problem is the 1:36 gear ratio. They said that if i went to a 1:50 I would be much more efficient. However this requires a different drive.

I would tend to agree with changing to the 1.5 gears. You do not need to change the drive, all you will need to do is change the 3 gears in the upper case. The only time you need to run 1.36 gears is when you are running a 30"+ prop.

After rereading your post. Are you having trouble coming on plane because the prop is cavitating, or just slow. Gear change will fix a slow start but is not the cure for cavatation on takeoff.

The 22 bravo might be too much prop surface for you. Might try a 20" if they even make one or a 21' Mirage. What was the problem with the bravo? You should have enough power with the whipple.

I would ditch that Mach and try a 21" Mirage Plus three blade. They always seemed the fastest on my 95 Donzi.

The prop is way to small ... with a whippled 502, you should be able to run at least a 24" Bravo
