Guess I should have clarified .The manual says you need the scan tool, timing light and timing tool ( which is the $10 part) Like P29 Scarab mentioned it says you must set the ECU with the scan tool into the "service mode" set the timing, then back to "Normal Mode" remove the timing tool ($10 Part) and shut off. Sounds like some of you are doing it without the scan tool.

Yes scarab22, you can set it with out the scan tool. The scan tool has a service mode to place the ecu in the base timing mode, but as an alternative, you can jumper pin A & B? on the DLC connector. I will be doing a friends boat this weekend and can verify the 2 pins, but I'm pretty sure that's right. They are right next to each other. I don't think you will notice any difference in power, but it's worth a try and if it makes no difference set it back to 8.
HPJunkie, the jury is still out for LOTO this year. I want to go, but I have some other trips that may take up the vacation time, like Havasu & LA. But nothing is set for sure right now. Should know in the next few weeks.
