Question Thunderbolt IV - V-6 module

Installing the V-6 module which I believe has 14 degrees timing onto a V-8 engine. How much advance will that actually give. I've got a blower motor, trying to decide whether to go with the V-8 hp or the V-6 style module.

Thanx

the amount of advance is stamped on the module.

Base timing plus what is stamped on module will be total time.

The V-6 Module which gives 14 deg. of advance on a V-6 engine does not give you that on a V-8 or as Dennis Moore states in his BBC book on page 187, "somewhere around 6-10 degrees." So if you are looking for 32* total you would need to start somewhere around 22-26 deg. initial. That module is often used on blower motors with good results. Other modules to consider would be Merc's V8-20R or the V8-HP; both are 20 deg advance units. Later! --- Jer

I have the V6 modules on my blower motors. With the timing set at 30* total. the base timing at idle @1000 is 20*

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info. I broke open the Dennis Miller manual and read that on page 187. I think I'll try the V6-14 first...I know the engine will idle better at 20 degrees than it will at 10 degrees, which it would have to be set at with the V8-HP.

Thanks again
