Default one piece rubber oil pan gaskets?

Are theese rubber gaskets any good? are they really as "idiot proof" as they advertize..i.e.....no sealent necesarry, impossible to over torqe?

I am fed up with trying to make 4 piece seal right and I am looking for a new solution

Nothing is idiot proof. However the one piece pan gaskets are good. Also anything can be over torqued. Do not kill the mounting bolts but make sure they are tight. Also do not use any sealant. Rubber and silicone don't get along well.

My GenV motor with the 1 peice gasket was to be installed with a silicone bead at both the front and back surfaces. Nothing along the rails. This from my Merc service manual. I never had a leak doing it that way.

They are worth the extra money. I have even reused one before. Way better than old 4 piece style as you call it in my opinion.

Yea, I used one on 1 engine and the old 4 piece style on the other, aside from the cost, the 1 piece was a lot easier and faster to install. just a little ultra black in the corners and boom, all done. I hate the old ones now and will never use them again.

Thumbs up good product

yes, use them...what everyone else said too. They work great and can be re-used time and again with no leaks...
