Angry Motor will not turn over

Just got the boat back from having the drive repaired and after about two hours on the lake I could not get the motor to start. It makes the alarm sound as it normally does, but when I turn the key far right to crank the motor nothing happens. I checked to make sure the drive is in neutral, but still nothing. I would like to get it solved and be on the water tomorrow. Any ideas.

Thanks

Connect a test light to the small wire on the starter motor. Ground the clip from the test light. Have someone attempt to crank the motor. If you have power while cranking, the starter is bad. If not , check the wiring back from the starter. There should be a relay on the motor for this circuit as well.

After thinking about it all night I and looking at it agian I now remember that the motor did die twice before while at idle going through the marina. Also, now when I turn the key the initial alarm sound is different from the motor that will turn over.

The last time I ran into a situation same as this the drive blew out and locked up the motor...Remember, the engine is attached to the lower unit by the coupler...I'd say take the 15 mins and pull the drive out. I'd bet you the engine will turn over then...just a thought.

Assuming that truely nothing happens when you turn the key, no click, no lights dimming, nothing then do this. Hold the key in the start position. Slowly move the gear shift from nuetral to forward and than back to nuetral and into reverse. If the interupter switch is acting up (out of adjustment) you should be able to get it to turn over, just not in nuetral.

i just went through this last weekend on my port engine
What i found was that it would do nothing at all all the way to the right, no gauge movement no click, the gauges did work . it moved the oil to 0 and the bat to 12 volts but they never blinked when i turned it the rest of the way to the right.

I found the neutral safety switch in the shifter.
Good luck Greg

Thanks for the help everyone. A friend and I were able to verify that the neutral safety switch on the starboard motor had gone bad. Got it fixed and had a great day at the lake.
