well I'm in deep sh%$. I've had an oil leak all season but now its beyond hope of fixing it in the boat. It started small over Memorial day thought I found it (loose senser) put it back in this weekend more leakage looked as if it was leaking from the remote filter (at the block), so Sunday a took off one side of my exhaust and replaced both O rings. waited for the launch to clear out after 7:00 put it back in.... leaks worse than ever. I'm going to pull it tonight or tomarrow depending on if I can line up a hilo and a driver. The worse part is I was going to be the card boat in White Lake for Smoke on the water Saturday hope I can get it going by then could be some late night wrenching this week. Any idea where its leaking rear main may have spit out I did have the crank out this winter but the leak looks like its off the center of the crank wouldn't it leak straight down? It looks to be off to the right side of the motor thats why I thought it was the remote...damn this sucks!

Dont know if this applies, but are you using a cast oil pan? I had a bad leak last year and it turned out the cast aluminum oil pan doesnt use the 2 bolts holes right next to the rear main. These 2 bolt holes have to be sealed (I used bolts and sealer from the outside behind the crank flange) or oil will splash out those holes and on to the flywheel and end up coming out by the starter on a bravo flywheel housing. I learned something new that day. Good Luck

I have had now 2 motors & both of them leaked at the pipe plug fitting on back of the engine behind the flywheel. First one leaked from the getgo, second one waited about 1/2 season before I noticed it. The way I verifyed where it was leaking I pulled distributer & used my oil pump primer. Once I got oil pressure up did not take long before I saw where it was coming from.

Thats a good Idea Jack! it leaks like a BI%^$ so I'm pretty sure its under pressure not from the pan it keeps getting worse every time I run it, I lost about a quart in 10 min. last night!!!

After having an engine rebuilt, I had a bad oil leak. Lost about 3 quarts in an hour from the back of the engine. It was the freeze plug at the back of the cam. It was improperly installed and popped out. No sign of oil pressure problems either.

Found it! had to pull the motor to do it but now I can fix it and get back in the water! It was a fitting on one of the compression fittings on the oil cooler. Damn I had it off Sunday but thought it was the O ring . Live and learn.......

Glad to hear you found it Don---it could have been a lot worse! At least it didn't require any engine disassembly.
