I use the chain-fall in my Garage,Some Guys borrow/rent fork lifts.
Another way is to build or buy an A frame and do it out side in the driveway. Rob |
Country style - Front end loader on the tractor
If I didn't have that, I'd build an A-frame. Maybe drive the boat to where the lifting device is, finish unbolting it and set it down in the back of the truck. |
I pull it in my garage. Standard 9' ceiling height.
I have a 6"x18" laminated support beam that is in attic. Cable goes thru 2 small holes in drywall and wraps around the beam. Hangs below 'just enough' to hook my chain hoist to. Oil pan clears the rear deck by a couple of inches. |
see if you know anyone with a forklift.

I rented a standard automotive hoist (long boom though) from my local rental shop. Measure the distance from the ground to the highest point the engine would have to clear when it gets pulled. Then measure the depth of the engien and go to the rental shop and see how high thier lift goes. I have a 22' Pachanga and I clear by 6" at full extension.......

I call the local wrecker service and get an hourly rate from them for a wrecker...then I put my own chainfall on their wrecker boom so I can control my up and down movement myself and have them drive away from the boat with my engines when I'm up enough to clear the gunnels. It does'nt get more portable than that when you're on blocks outside.....crude I know...but effective when you live in a subdivision....

I use a car hoist, I remove the rear trailer tires and jack the front of the trailer high enough to get the engine high enough over the transom. I used to use a tree limb but lightning took it out !

We have a beam that comes out from the top of our barn. I end up wrapping a chain around it and then hanging my 1 ton hoist off it. Have pulled a couple of motors that way.

Great big oak tree! An then leave it hang there for at least a couple of days and scatter emty beer cans around it.
