I am doing an oil change/plugs and wires in a mercury 350 260hp V-8. Motor has around 400 hrs. on it. What is the best oil to use? S.A.E. 40 weight? And what oil filter?

Also the gas cap broke off and was wondering the best place to get one? Boat is 1985 Wellcraft Scarab1.

Hey, I kinda liked the rag as a gas cap.

Straight 30 should be fine,
Usually, the recommended oil
is posted on the decal on the
flame arrestor/ plastic cover
( if applicable)

I, as well as several others, run Mobil 1 synthetic in my 350 MAG.
In the summer I use 15-50 and 5-30 in fall/winter.

As for the gas cap, check out West Marine or Boaters World. They'll have what you're looking for.
