Dude...you told me you chipped the gel coat.
I wouldnt just fill that unless its going to be just a temp patch. I wouldnt put it back in the water until you do something with it.

if your wanting a do it yourself repair that will look fair get some resin and then get some fiberglass mat not cloth. clean up and smooth out the rough edges around the damage. take some mat and a scissors and cut the mat as to create fine strandes, such as cut 1/4-3/8in along the edge of the mat and the little piece that fall off is what your after. cut alot because you are going to use the cut mat to add to resin to create a thick paste. mix resin in a small cup ( a cut in half soda or beer can work good, there pleniful and disposable ) i usually use a popcicle stick to stir up the resin not to hot because you need time to work it, add the cut mat in after you have the resin mixed you are creating a very thick paste that wont run down the boat and you can work vertical. as a precaution tape off under repair so as not to run down the side on the good part of boat. after you get a clob on the hole use the sticks on edge in a chopping motion to work the fiberglass resin paste level you will be actual working air bubbles out of the paste and bring resin to the top. this will provide you with a fiberglass fill in the hole.after it dries sand down, then use gel from the manufacture and use as a cosmetic fill after dry sand and buff. you'll have to do colors separte. if you take your time and don get in a hurry i think the results will be near undetectable. by do the repairs in this manor you wont have to spray the gel out to blend creating a halo around repairs as the blend starts weathering.

i told you you you would be impressed that i didn't kick or punch anything. That should have given you the clues, that something was way wierd? usually it would have ended up costing me twice as much , due to all of the other things i might have broken in that fit of rage!, but it was such a freakin fluke that i was as amazed as i was pissed... and yes it's at jerry's...

and it did crack the gel coat .. i just stopped there when i was telling you the story!!...and then!!!!!!!!!

Well you got some very good feed back on what you need to do to get it fixed. I will be around this week if you want to fix it yourself.......as far as a professional repair I dont have anybody I would recommend local right now.

As far as the piling I think a chainsaw would be the best fix for that :crazy:
