Alternator Bracket Needed

Have a 87 Baja 280 with twin 454s. The lower alternator bracket has broken. I have had it welded but it broke again a year later. I want to replace. Any idea what application I need to look for at a salvage yard?

All cracked up and no where to go !!

JimmyBaja,
Alot of these brackets crack if the alternator isn't tight enough. It sits back there and vibrates. Check to see if you have a washer in the alternator bracket. At the top where the long bolt goes through there should be a washer against the front of the alternator as the bolt goes through. This stop the alternator from loosening and wearing out the front top of the alternator housing. The part # for a new Mercruiser is #85013t. It list for around $30.00. The only problem about getting a used one is it might be on the edge of cracking and you not see it.

If you have any questions or need further help, feel free to give me a call at the shop.
