H2O pressure in Oil Cooler? Need Cooler!
I have a 92 7.4L with combo cooler and finally figured where my major water leak was last night. The end cap is leaking just behind drain plug. I think it is rusted!
I want to get a new one, but also want to boat this weekend. While setting, it drips and running it streams. This may sound stupid, but could I clean the area and J-B weld that area for the weekend or would the pressure blow it out? I have a wire welder and torche setup also.
Anyone in the DC area have an extra collecting dust?

When I bought my last boat the owner thought the block was cracked but the end had come loose from the cooler. The cooler should be made of copper and can be repaired as any copper plumbing. Mine had come apart at the solder seal so I was able to resweat it and I have used it now for 4 years.
Good luck

Can I run without the combo PS/Oil cooler for one day this weekend. My one day consists of running in still kinda chilly water to a spot 5mi away, party, and drive back. This is if the problem is beyound sweating the end of the cooler back on. Does that little thing really make that big a difference?

That short a distance shouldn't be a problem. I had the exact same problem a few years ago. Used and acetylene torch and some soldier and never heard from the cooler again. Took all of ten minutes to soldier. But with twins in a 27 boat it was and ALL DAY job to remove and replace
