Default Exhaust Tip Install - Rubber gasket???

Has anyone installed an exhaust tip without gluing it in?

I was thinking of cutting a rubber gasket to sandwich in between the tip and the fiberglass. This way changing or repairing would be easy.

I have seen the flanges for dry pipes made from silicone so I think If I get the right material it should last. I am thinking of putting a collar on the inside to help with the mounting rather than just the washers and nuts too.

I am buying the HPI Transom tips.

I have not yet but I believe they are called beauty rings. This is the setup i have being built for my 2" offset problem. Daryl at Stainless Marine recommended it for my custom exhaust tips.

It is a ring that basically slips over your tips from the outside and seals against your tips I would imagine you would then silicone the seal just to be safe.

Anyone else ever use a beauty ring?

Yes, I just replaced my factory-supplied corsa silensors with straight tips. Corsa used a 1/8" rubber-type gasket. I re-used the gasket with just a "dab" of silicone caulking. For above waterline tips, 5200 is way overkill.

no leaks/drips. Tips just needed a light tap from a mallet.
