O/T NASCAR question

What is the difference between a Busch series car and a Winston Cup car? I'm a new NASCAR fan and I was just wondering.

Thanks All
Roby :D

The engine is the basic difference.

On top of the motor difference the wheelbase is shorter on a busch car and they are lighter. Going to bristol friday morning can't wait!

Cup..... vs Busch

Busch car has a 2" shorter wheelbase, 100 less lbs wieght and a 9:1 comp motor which means less hp......pretty close.......they both run radial tires now.........that is done on purpose so if a Busch team wants to move up to Cup its not a completley different ballgame........a little faster, a little heavier, a little harder on tires........ or if a Cup team wants to go back to Busch.......easier.........and yes at the same track on the same weekend a Busch polesitting car has outqualified a polesitting Cup car.......usually due to better track conditions during qualifying......doug:) ;)

Jimmy "Haymaker" Spencer....hahahaa

Don't the Busch cars have less tire as well?

Busch also runs a smaller cfm carb than Cup. Cup is 870 cfm and I think Busch is 400's or so. IS that right Budah??

Hey....why do ya think they hired Gary Nelson to police these guys....always someone looking for an edge. I don't blame them, with all the "equalizing the playing field" stuff going one, the drivers are having less and less to do with the outcome of the race......

They need to get back to racing......like it was 10 years ago. That was killer.

ARCA is another class that sometimes runs at a race on Saturday instead of BUSCH. Same engines as WC. my cousin races ARCA they have run faser practice times then the WC cars on occasion.

last time i was at the shop they had 9 Ernie Elliot engines on the bench, and 4 in cars.

you should hear about the tricks. in NASCAR it ain't cheat'N till you get caught.

how about Plugging a section of the tube frame for the Nitrous canister volume. or soaking the tires in mineral spirits for qualifying.

watch the cars at the super speedways. they look like a dog that got hit in the rear by a car. down onthier bump stops. one way valves in the shocks to get the back ends down to cut the earo drag. the crew "pushes " the car into spec as they are lifting on the back end the whole way through inspection

i hope seeing the cars at Milwaukee turned some of you gear heads into fans. can't beat standing at the fence when 42 cars blow your hat off at 198mph literally 3 feet away. my hat landed on the guys head behind me this year. I can't make that stuff up

Rambunctious,

Where is your cousin from, I may know him.

Busch

The cars are 2" shorter in the wb and lighter. 390 cfm Holley carb, and 9.5:1 comp ratio. Also different cylinder heads and cams (less airflow). About 550 hp ona Busch and 725 ona WCup car. I think they now use the same tires and I know the fuel is the same.
