Question Chiller Question

Does anyone have any info on horsepower increases with the addition of chillers on blower motors? I've seen and heard everything from 40HP to 100HP. I am thinking about adding them to my boat if it is worth the $$$. I have 540 C.I. K/E blower motors generating 750 HP.

Thanks for the feedback Budah. I'm not sure I want to shell out the $$ for 40 HP...

Thanks again Budah. I'm not sure I would want to turn up the boost. I don't want to shorten the life of the engines. Wouldn't more boost put more pressure on everything? I'll think about it for a while.

comp is 8.0 to 1 and timing is at 28*total advance. everything seems fine and very safe at this setting.

Thanks...i'm just checkin it against my setup for safety.
8.0:1 557ci with 7 lbs out of the 10-71's @ 30*...all in by 2500rpm, Big Aluminum heads and no stats...runs 120's on the water temp and 220's on the oil at extended WOT.
Should be good, no?

Thumbs up

388 Hustler- Are those K.E. engines EFI or Carbs?

EFI has built in boost controls to shut down if boost is too high.

If you have Carbs, then boost is probably very low if you have 750HP on a 540 engine. The K.E.P.P. 675 HP is based on a 540 and only uses 3lbs of boost. you may have room to move up in pressure and still be very safe!

Boostdaddy,

They are carbs and you are right about the low boost. I'm only running about 4lbs at WOT. My main concern is sacrificing reliablity by adding more boost. I'm just not sure it is worth it to me...

What brand do you guys think would work best for my set-up? Also, how much boost do you guys think I could add without drastically increasing my chances of blowing up. How about the $? Any idea?

Thanks again for all the help.
