Default broken engine

was running 4500rpm when boat started slowing down. looked at gauges and port motor rpm were dropping fast .motor stalled. cranked back up but not easily.took off, got on plane to 3500rpm and it did the same thing. tried to start it dut it would not turn over. let it sit an hour and it fired up and reved fine in neutral. shut it off and checked oil. nothing but milk.pulled plugs and they all look fine.boat has 160 hours fresh water.motors are hp450's. exhaust manifolds .blown head gasket,or what.how is water getting past rings to the bottom?how do i check exhaust to find out if they have a hole?

Check your riser gaskets they would be the first culprit. If that does not find it pull your manifold gaskets and check there, that would be my bet.

You also need to check the intake manifold gaskets for leaks at the front and rear water passages. A problem there wil dump plenty of water in the oil.

Good Luck

Ronald,

What ever came of this repair? Did it end up being something major? If so, was the whole engine gone through or were just the damaged parts replaced.

I just happened to be goofing around on OSO tonight and came across this thread about your boat.

PS...Were you able to get the drive repaired from your misfortune a couple weekends ago?
