Default stingray hydrofiol

What does anybody think about the stingray hydrofoil or something like it? Does it help or slow your top speed down. How hard is it on the lower unit?

thanks

i have one on my 19' donzi keeps the bow down when getting on plane and it pounds alot less in the rough water. it did not make any difference in my top speed or rpms but i can only run 50 with my 4.3 v6 anyway

I've put them on several boats. The only boat I ever saw a speed decrease was a 18' SeaRay bowrider with a 228 Mercruiser. Replaced the Stingray fin with one that had a "vee" in the fin and regained the lost speed plus had the other positive benefits.

I've used them on 90 mph outboard padvee boats with excellent results.

Most people don't like the looks of them. I think they are great. Can break the cavitation plate off your drive though, with the 2-piece ones.
