Oil cooler recomendations
Looking for an thermostat controlled oil cooler. Would prefer block mount if possible. Who makes one and what is your experience with them?
building a 500-525 hp 509 and would rather be safe than sorry!

Hey there Scott,
I am no expert Scott...however I did have my old P-22 up to 80.5 mph on GPS.
It might be easier to try and help if we had more details;
Do you have any baseline info off this motor package,what are your current oil and water temps?
What type of H2O circulation system are you going to use,crossover system or Merc water pump?
What are the specs of the oiling system; stock Merc,oil pan size, remote filter???
WI is a cold water application, are you anticipating high oil temps or are you trying to keep them up there?
What year P-22 and what's the current motor package?

Oil Cooler,
I have a Hp 500 (now a 509) similar setup as yours and run the stock HP 500 Oil cooler. Iam in Florida with high water temps(Summer83-88), I am battling with high temps at full throttle. The Hp cooler should probably work better in cooler temps. There was a guy selling KE HP6 type thermostat controlled oil filter brackets for $150-00 on another forum, think it was Fastboats. This winter I will install the KE unit. Check out Perma cool for a oil T-Stat. I believe there were 2 kinds of HP coolers, 1 being about 3" & 2" wide, both about same length. Do a general search on the subject, there was a ton of info here before.

Good luck with your 22 Pachanga, I have one also and they are a sweet boat! We use ours almost everyday for basic transportation around the lake. I`ll probably keep it forever.
I`m amazed at how well they run bone stock. I`m spinning a 23 Lazer II 4800 rpm with the orig 350 Magnum.
That should fly with a 500 in her I thought the stock HP500 filter mount was also an oil thermostat.
