yes.....imcorrect pushrod length could cause your guides to go south real fast...if the cam has been changed from stock and you did not check how that change affected your pushrod length (by checking the wear pattern where the end of the valve stem hits the rocker arm ) you could definately cause premature wear of the guides thru improper valve train geometry.....I know how to do it for myself and had to change mine by ordering custom length pushrods...but the exact science and directions to check it could probably be put into words by someone else on this link who is better at explaining things in words than I am. Its actually very simple...but other experts on this site could put it into less words and easier to understand simple instructions than I could.....but it does sound like your problem could fit into this catagory..... Thanks for the replies. Glenn, we will check the geometry. It seems like only one head has the guides destroyed, the one with the CMI header that got cooked.
See thread: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...threadid=60646
Does this make sense? Over-heating header causing valve guides to go south?

Well, WTF the heads check out fine at the engine shop. An earlier Leak down showed less than 10%. The hunt continues. This is really fun.
Any ideas were to look?
