Question new exhaust, now more water pressure

changed exhaust from stock mercruiser to revolution exhaust. now my water pressure went from 15psi at wot. to 25plus what do i do. i didnt run it on muffs i ran it in a test tank so it should be just like being in the lake. i read about 25 being to much, rather have around 15 to 18maX.

The new exhaust is more restrictive. Not to the exhaust, but to the waterflow. 25 is right there at the limit. You'll proably be ok, but if it was my boat, I wouldn't be comfortable.

Call Todd I am sure that he will be able to answer any questions you might have about your water pressure. Here is the #(651) 777- 4747 or you can e-mail [email protected] . Let me know how it goes. If you have any trouble let me know and I will get ahold of him for you.

its a 502, carb type, all i did was change exhaust, was 15psi at wot now 25ishwot, the thermostat has 4 discharge connections, the manifolds require two, i have two running to the manifolds at bottom, it cant get out as fast as coming in. i talked to todd at revolution marine and he said open up the riser disharge opening and that should cure it. i will try and get it done and post if its cured.
cord im not really comfortable with the pressure i want it back in the teens.

I just went through this myself, switched from Gils to K Eickert, on HP 500s. My solution was to run 2 to the headers and then the other 2 to "Y" fittings that dump into tailpipes at end of headers. Hope that makes sense. Only drawback is 2 long runs of ugly black hose, I'll dress them up this winter.

Yes, there is one that will show the general idea. Go to forums/board, its under "boats for sale" 1997 Outerlimits. I can take a picture of "y" if you want but won't be back to boat till next week, 10-14.

It would peg the needle before at WOT, I don't remember exactly but I think 15 lbs cruise and 21 lbs WOT now. The "y" is mounted inbetween fittings on top and tailpipe, that is where the outer hoses connect. KE has side profile of headers under exhaust specs, http://www.keith-eickert.com/ . I tried to find pics of revolution headers but couldn't find one.
