Thanks, I hadn't heard that yet. Unfortunately I'm already a left hand. I have two friends with 20'ers, they're both blue sides - look like twins when they're out. Love 'em - I've always been amazed at the size of the water those things can run hard in!! The hulls are 100% bullet proof...................

If yours is the one I'm thinking of, it was stored at Everglades Marina for quite a few years. It had a star in the middle of the stripe on the dock. I think I have a picture in a book with Don Aronow driving it. I also have the original leather wrapped wheel from my 27.

Everglades Marina was on 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale and was one of the top Apache and Cigarette dealers back in the 80's and early 90's. Ralph Martin and Norville Staley owned it. Ralph ran it with his sons Tres and Glen. Ralph left to form Martin Marine and Tres formed Martin Offshore. Norville passed away and it closed.

It's in one of three books; Blue Thunder, Muscle Boats, or The King of Thunderboat Row. If you can't find it, I'm in Baltimore during the week, so you can see my copy. I believe they made up to about two dozen. I just thought of another one that was in Maryland a long time ago. When my buddy Bill Schaefer had Satin Doll (the first '38 Cig) in Ocean City, there was a guy who had an all white 27 Squadron called 'Hustler'. He would go out in the ocean and run with us until Bill hit the throttles hard (Satin Doll had twin fuel injected 496's running on 100 octane aviation fuel) That would have been 1979 and 1980.

That's the one Biggus! When I saw it in around 1986, it was not operational and I believe Everglades was selling it for storage expenses. If you know Miami, you can tell that shot was taken a little bit below Cigarette just south of the Sunny Isles boulevard bridge on the way to Haulover cut.

Thats the exact color scheme this boat was - you can see the gelcoat color through the 'glass up under bow, and on various nicks in different areas of the boat. I couldn't figure out why I was seeing blue gel on the sides, and red gel on the bottom as if it were bottom paint. Well that picture explains it!! Gonna have to snag that book.........

I did see a firefox on this site with the same two color gelcoat......

I just might have to contact someone down south to see if any records remain for the hull ID # they had down there. That would be pretty sweet if the DON actually drove this thing.................
