Pricing has not come out on this new P5X yet. I would expect it to be about the same as the standard P5.

As far as the Power Tech 5 blade goes we do not have any experience with the prop. They have had the 5 blade for a couple years now and it is custom built to order. Since the Power Tech props are not allowed in Offshore racing we do not have a lot of experience in high performance applications with them. As far as pricing goes we sell the 4 blade Powertech (OFS4 a Bravo 1 clone) for $468 compared to a Bravo 1 at $460 (w/solid hub). The pricing for the Powertech does not make it attrative when compared to the Bravo 1 prop. The 5 blade Powertech is about $900, I believe, so it is about the same price as a Hydromotive 5 blade. The Powertech is not available in the high pitches that other high performance props are.

Powertech makes great props, we sell a lot of them, but they really don't have the experience with the high performance off-shore style boats that other manufaturers have. As of right now, anyway.

What size???
What shaft???

I will be wanting to test a pair this spring, but you would not share in the testing this past fall :(

With my cat I am told I need the stern lift they have

They are large shaft and the pitch is 28?

MnFastBoat 12-13-2003 05:41 AM

Damn Troutly, they would not fit anyway :(
I have a Bravo1 :(
Unless I am mistaken that the XZ is the same prop shaft but I don't think so

Ric232 12-13-2003 08:08 AM

Bravo 1's and XZ's have the same propshaft. XR's are different.

XR and XZ have the Large 1 1/4 inch Prop Shaft!

I wouldn't recommend running 5 Blades on the standard Prop Shafts.

Ooops, my mistake. Was this always the case? I thought the XZ's originally had the standard size shaft.

When the XZ's came out the main difference was the large prop shaft. They had the same size upper gear as the standard Bravo 1. The XR has the larger upper gear with the larger prop shaft.

There are some other subtle differences aside from what I noted, I'm sure some of the other OSO's are VERY familiar with Bravo 1 drives! I bet some of them could write pages about their experiences with Bravo drives.
