New 5 Blade Prop

1 Attachment(s)
This is a prototype prop from Hydromotive that will be available this season. It is a different blade design than the P5. It is based on the Quad IV X, also from Hydromotive.

This prop is a bow lifting prop and should work well for those applications that require a bow lifting type prop. It also has a tendency to not ventilate when coming on plane due to an increased blade surface area.

If you notice the center of the prop has a square bore. This allows it to use the Mercury Flo-Torue system of hubs. Both large and small prop shafts can be used with this prop.

This paticular prop is a 27 pitch. It can be used in applications that use a 29-30 pitch Bravo 1 four blade prop.

Kind-a looks like a 5 blade version of the Bravo 1.
Do you have a pair of these 27's to tryout and collect data comparision against my Bravo 1 28's and 30's.

As of right now the left hand prop is not finished yet. They will be available for the up-coming season. We will have a set of these in various pitches as test props. Keep in touch with us and I will let you know when the left hand props become available.

The testing we did with the Quad IV X was very good. We found that in most applications the stock Quad IV X ran about the same speed as a lab finished Bravo 1.

We expect to see similar results with this prop in testing.

Matt,
Thanks for the reply and offer. I will take you up on the test once the left hand arrives.

I am curious, the results you have on the IV X sounds good for top end, what difference in cruise speed at say 3000 or 3500rpm from Bravo 1.

Rick,

The Quad IV X has about the same cruise speed as the Bravo 1 does. I will post a picture of the Quad IV X tomorrow. It has the same blade design as the P 5X but, of course, only 4 blades. I think the Quad IV X is going to be a geat alternative to the Bravo 1 prop. The price is about the same as the standard Quad IV.

The new Five Blade

I like it! it looks like a old merc High-five which is a great prop also has the Bravo-one look as well .

It sure is different than the old style ,we just finished a set .

I bet this turns out to be a great prop for many boats out there.

Troutly,

If new products didn't come out which are/may be better than the previous one then how would we stay in business? When the left hand props come out I will try to get you a set to try out,

Darin, you are right about this prop being similar to a Bravo 1. Hydromotive realized they were losing a segment of the market that required a bow lifting prop so they designed the Quad IV X and the P 5 X. They are alo going to the square bore to accept the Mercury Flo-Torque system of hubs.

MAtt,
how's the pricing running on these?
Also, I've heard Powertech has jumped into the 5 blade bow lifting game at a very attractive price. Any word?
Thanks,
Dave

I'd like to test a RH on my single Pantera, running a labbed 28 B1 now- so will there be a bow lifting 5 blade in a 25-26 pitch range? I can test in Mid March- Boat going to storage at noon before it snows tonight.
