Did you hit something ?
At least the gear floors wern't knocked out   |
don't think so
I don't think I did. This happened back in June or July. I just got the drive apart. I thought I had lost my prop. The engine raced and then stopped. I don't mean it stalled, it stopped. I don't remember seeing anything in the water when we stopped, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some thing submerged...

Man.... that looks just like my last two XRs. My case looks just like that. Which is why I am in the market for a new one. Some say they can be repaired, but Im reluctant to spend all that money on new gears and take a chance with the case being out of alignment or something like that. just buy a complete upper.

I order to have that kind of damage you would have damage to the prop. Was there any?
Twisting the prop shaft can be done with a high HP engine and flying the boat without pulling the throttle back. On re-entry the prop stops faster than the engine and the shaft twists. |
nope...
No damage to the prop. I had just bought the boat around the middle of April and at that point I don't think I ever had it out of the water (flying).
|
Either the previous owner did or the prop on the boat wasn't the original.
How much HP do your engines have??? |
Did you break the top cap?
Pix don't show it. |
Yikes! Looks like you could use it for a blender and just buy a new drive.
|
tinkerer.
When I bought the boat it had a Mirage 27 on it (needed a 23). It is an HP425. mcTN, Top cap looks good, I just forgot to take it out of the box o' parts. Chris |
Previous owner either changed the prop after it got damaged or he had bigger engines in it before he sold the boat to you.
