How did you end up getting the head bolts off?
|
die grinder, the slow way.:( ended up only 2 had to be cut off
|
Only way... Cutting torch... Heads are cast, bolts are carbon steel. Make sure you chisle or smack the hell out of the rust, it wont cut and will pop like popcorn. After you pry the heads over the bolts(what ever is left) use a stud extractor or pipe wrench and lots of heat if necessary to get the studs out. If real small I have MIG a nut onto the existing stud and used a socket to extract!!! good fricken luck... Andy...P.S. much beer is needed!

Cool, Congrats. It looked like a goner in the first pics. Tell your buddy that simple green works good for cleaning that bilge. Let it soak full strength over night, and it should hose off.:p

Congrats, yes, but maybe a look at the wiring might - dare I say it? - PREVENT - that corrosion from recurring. A $15 Merc continuity kit and decent battery cables/clean connections go a long way in anti-corrosion....:cool-smiley-011: BTW - here's Johnny!:p |
