Clearcut,
Yeah that was funny. Actually I was just trying to get this thread to the top. The thought of NOS does have some merit if done right. Sort of like blower motors. They get a bad rap from people just doing enough to get it running and then wonder why the come apart.
A bottle of Dental Nitrous would go a long way! Trivia, what board member when asked what tools they carried replied, "tube of Astro Glide and a cell phone"?

I'd be leary of the dry shots but my experience is with bikes. I bet nitrous in boats would really work well as i really reduces intake temps which is good for enclosed engine compartments. I just think changing bottles all the time would be a pain. I imagine a big V8 makes short work of a bottle,

the zex kit is a nice setup, or you can run a nitrous mastermind on it. I've had bad luck with the plate systems, but with the nozzle set ups, the seam to be working real well.

Must resist the button.....

But he's passing me.

BOOM
Seriously though 5 seconds of high horse power won't get you much. Boat weight and drag vs HP dosn't not allow for the acceleration like you want.

5 second 175hp shot in a 21' Chaparral Villain II with a 260hp 350/Alpha would take it from 56mph/4400rpm to 77mph/5900rpm.
Wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't sitting in it with my mouth all dropped open.
A 100 horse shot (plate) needs nothing in the way of timing retard or weird computer gizmos. Just a fuel pump, a low fuel pressure cutoff switch, a plate kit and a great big bottle.

Muffman, I would love to know what exactly your buddy did for set up! What product, and where components are mounted.
Hard on, Zex master mind? explain please?
mcollinstn, 100hp needs no weird computer gizmos, or timing retard? Please explain how you know this?
Guys, I am looking for 5 mph! 5 seconds of juice in a 5000lbs boat. Can it be done? And for what price? ( aside from an engine down the road.

Why don't you put a centrifical supercharger and intercool it and run 5-6 psi and you will always have the torque. All you have to do is fill up your fuel tank with 92 octane fuel more often. Forget the bottle, that is for those boats who run the 1/4 mile in flat water.
