I am planning on fabricating a foot rest for the passenger side of my boat. I would like to see and hear some suggestions. I thought of building a simple wedge out of wood and covering it with carpet. I am open to other creative ideas. I am also wondering how I should secure it. I would like to avoid too much drilling, cutting, etc. of the original clean look of the cockpit liner. Here are a few picks to show you what the current look is like.

I had a similar problem. My wifes feet didn't reach the floor unless her bolster was dropped and she stood up. I fabricated a "box" type foot rest out of 5/8 in. thick white ash. It's about 16 inches across, 12 inches deep, and the top is pitched. Front is about 8 inches high, back side is about 12 inches high. I hinged the top about 3 inches from the back side so it makes a nice little storage space. Then took a piece of white Corian and made a bull nose for the front edge. I put 3 coats of poly on the wood to protect it, but it never really gets exposure to water. Did not like the idea of screwing up the color scheme with wood, but it actually looks kind of nice.

Looks like you're all white floor and sides. Think about getting a piece of white Corian and fabbing out of that. Corian is easy to work with, just use carbide tools and proper adhesive. Use glue and screws though to be on the safe side. I'd post a pic for you but boat is wrapped up for winter. Good luck

You might want to do it out of High Density Polyethylene like Starboard. It will not rot and you can rout it like wood to make treads. It will need to be screwed together but it will last as long as the fiberglass.

Go to any fiberglass supplier in your area and get a piece of foam. Shape it to the floor with a knife and sand the corners round. You then mix lay fiberglass and roll on resin. Sand and paint. When you are done the step will look like it came from the factory.

I made these for my formula.On the passenger side I incorporated a set of steps to acces the top deck. unlike Too Old I made them out 1/8 plywood covered on both sides with two layers of stichmat then gelcoated and painted.I also made the box holding the throtles and shifters along with cup holder mounted behind on the helm side.
