Claude, if you pull it, can't you send it to Comp Cams and they will read the profile for you? But maybe you're like me, you want to know BEFORE you pull it. It costs about $225 to buy one if you want to do that instead of tearing your motor apart first.

Let me know if you are able to confirm the profile, but I think it changed with the MPI motors.

The main reason I wanted to know the specs was for the programer. It makes it easier for him to calculate the difference between the cam I have in there now,(stock) and the one I am putting in. Crane powermax 168731

226/236 .587/.610

Kanookstr, Keep us posted with the progress. It sounds like you are making a Funsation out of that Sunsation.
Which computer do you have on that. I'm not sure when they changed them, but I have a MEFI1. 1997 How much smaller did you have to go on the pully to get the same boost.

Crane will probably read your old cam for you.

What LSA do you have on your 731? 114deg ?? I'm assuming any less than that would not work well with the blower.

If you use a degree wheel and a dial indicator you can figure it out yourself.
You'd want to degree your new cam anyway to check if you got what you ordered.

Ric232, It's a 112 LSA , but I'm running the cam 4° advanced.

Dave, the problem with doing it myself is that I won't have the block back till the end of the month. I kinda wanted to send out my MEFI3 now so I would end up with everything back around the same time.;)

Claude,

Who is doing your ECU? Are you going to get a chance to try the reprogrammed ECU on the dyno, or are you confident that you can tell if it is working properly w/o a dyno?

The reason I ask is that I have an engine builder who can do a 500hp buildup on my motor, but he does not handle ECU reprogramming. Can the ECU programmer figure out what to do just by having the old specs and new specs on the motor?

Claude,

Sorry to go OT, but I thought you might object to this claim:

211/227 ; .512/.512 LSA ??

the 330 cam was 213/217 .47/.483 and went to 206/211 for the gen 6 roller 310hp

a 1999 502 efi mag Gen 6 roller I had was 224/224 .483/.483

an earlier flat tappet mag cam on a GEN V (pre gen 6 roller) was .512/.512 but 211/227 doesn't sound right but I no longer have the documentation for it

Thanks for the Info ursus.:)

Ric232, I went with AZSM, They did it once when I went Procharged, And the thing ran flawlessly. I also went with there 50lb injectors and 2 bar MAP sensor. If you go to this page. AZSM ECU Recal There is a form you can download and print. You just fill it out with all the specs they ask, and send it along with the ECU. I did not Dyno, but did do a few plug readings. I also run a dual EGT gauge so I can tell at a glance if theres anything out of the norm. I never build an engine with out one any more!!!:)
