Use Marikate's "On Off" with warm water, in the float bowl area(after the carb is disassembled). It will remove every grain of salt and rust and make it look like new. Make sure to wear gloves, eye goggles, and old clothes. Its very corrosive but works real well on carb rebuilds. Usually you use it for washing bottoms of boats when consentrated.

I think so. Going to try to get out Sunday to make sure. She runs fine on the hose but kind of hard to bounce it around when on the trailer. (:D Maybe Too Old would know how to do that...:D)

I have never done that before, and not sure I ever would. On/Off is an acid, and acid and aluminum don't mix. I remember one time I was using it to clean out a heat exchanger and spilled a little bit on an aluminum motor mount. I started fizzing all over and I had to rush and get the hose to clean it off.

Unless you intend on quickly flushing the parts with water it can start to eat the aluminum on your expensive carb.

Actually all the boats yards around here use it to clean out carbs too. Its better than scratching up the float bowl with a screwdriver or pick and you can still never get out all the salt. You can also mix on/off with water and weaken it .

I should have said auto parts store Isopropyl alcohol.
Look for dry gas. There are 2 types of dry gas. Methanol(cheap crap) or Isopropyl. This is what I'm referring to. Of course you wouldn't use drug store or supermarket pharmacy stuff because that's diluted with water. I never tried the denatured alcohol, (stove fuel) but Reed is probably right there, because a gallon of it is cheap. BBB
