Bolts For Exhaust Tips???????????
I Just put my brand-new Eddie Marine exhaust tips on my 25 Outlaw and found out they didn't come with bolts? Are they all a standard size? are they stainless steel 3" long by 1/4? also do i need to add a bead of silicon around the plate that goes up against the transom? thanks

in my opinion. use lots of silicone it will peel off later. don't want that transom getting wet. I can't remember if mine were 1/4 or 5/16 but i did get the beveled back philips heads so they fit in nice. and i think 2 3/4 or 3 will work.

i bought mine at the local True value hardware store.
the one here in town has an incredible selection of stainless bolts. i probably overkilled it but even got stainless lock nuts.. incase of any vibration. but i know lowes, menards, and home depot has them also but best selection here is hardware store.

I got my screws at the local marine store (West Marine).
Stainless of course. Use 5200 marine sealant. It's good stuff. Your's are thru bolted? Mine are attached with wood screws into the transom. That's how they came from the factory.

My suggestion.... use 5200.... install the tips dry... trace around the flange of the tip with a pencil... remove the tip and mask just outside of the pencil line... Remove the pencil mark with prep solv or just plain paint thinner. Slather on the 5200 or silicone if you prefer. Install the tip along with the flange and bolts. Tighten. Wipe off the excess sealant, leaving a small bead around the flange. Remove the masking tape and you will have a clean line between the sealant and the hull, instead of a big smeared mess. You can do the same with outdrives and transom plates. Good luck

Thanks Liberator21.... also if you have never used 5200 before... it takes THREE WHOLE DAYS to set up and another week to cure... so protect it from dust and grime until it at least "skins". Also... you want to make sure that you use enough sealant to seal the tube all the way through the transom or hull... that way water won't be able to penetrate from either side. Good luck.
