Carb selection
Need a new carb for my new 502 I am putting together.I was going to go with a holley 9022 800 cfm mechanical secondary but I am having a hard time getting one as they are back ordered at the factory.Should I consider the 850 cfm or mayby a vacuum secondary model.I don't plan on seeing over 5500 rpm.

Just an opinion. If you go with the Holley I think you will have better luck with a single plane intake. I never could get the jetting even on my 502 with the 9022 until I removed the high rise dual plane. The Dart cured it but it was cross jetted, close to the Merc HP 500 cross jetting.

Homan the best price I found in US bucks was from chief engines.I have bought from CP before but they are a bit high on the 9022 Holley. They want 530 usd wich I have to multiply by 1.35 for exchange plus brokerage to get to Canada.Basicaly freight a brokerage costs about 100 bucks.530 times 1.35 plus 100 =815 cnd dollars. My local new speed shop Best Buy offered the carb for 600 canadian dollars(aprox 450 usd freight included)but could not deliver for 1 month do to 2 week factory backorder and 2 week delivery time.I ordered today from Chief Engines and will swallow the freight. There price is better but the freight makes it slightly more.425 times 1.35 plus 100=673 cnd. dollars.I should have it within 1 week though.I was impressed that they had the carb on the shelf, and they had the best us dollar price by far. Most speed shops seem to drop ship from the factory.
