I had a 496 Mag in my Advantage 23. It went 64mph. I added the smallest procharger at 3 pounds of boost and gained 12 mph. I ran 93 pump gas and did not have any trouble at all.

You need to use you head and not abuse your drive and do not run for more than 5 minutes or so at wot. This is the cheapest way to make hp with that engine. Just be reasonable in your use.

K & N will clean better but no gains. The factory breather has a higher flow rate....save your money and LAB THE PROP..... THROTTLE UP in FL is a good pick.......or talk to Julie at TU she is very knowledgeable and can maybe recommend a better prop vs labbing what you have.......if your lucky you might get that 2-3 MPH your looking for. Are you hitting the rev limiter at 4850? some can get 5000 or 5050 which will also give you more MPH....its kinda the luck of draw with the older 496's some spin high and some not so high.

YES; A true 65mph on GPS @ Table Rock Lake in 62 deg. water on a 79 deg. day juast after break-in @ 22 hrs. SPEEDO WAS 1-2 mph OFF DEPENDING ON WIND AND WATER VARIABLES. It is a strong runner w/ a deep "V" before the re-programmed ECU. Haven't tried the leaner unit yet, I expect 1mph from the re-program. I STILL RUN 65-67 ON THE RIVER.

SOUNDS LIKE LABBING THE PROP IS BEST???? AND MAYBE A 23 / 24P LABBED???? WHAT IS A SAFE W.O.T.

Bob280Silencer --- WHAT DOES YOUR BUDDY THINK OF HIS INTERCEPTOR; QUALITY ISSUES???

Fuelish Pleasures & Raylar --- MY DEALER AND mERC TOLD ME THAT MY SERIAL #'S REFLECT THAT MY ENGINE HAS THE HO CRANK. MY MOTOR IS JUST SHY OF THE ECU & FORGED PISTONS AND CAM FROM BEING THE HO ENGINE. FACTORY SENT ME A RE-PROGRAMMED ECU LAST NOV. SINCE I WAS TOO RICH AND LEAVING SOOT RESIDUE / FILM ATOP THE WATER. HAVEN'T YET RAN THE BOAT.

The Caravelle 260 is actually a Mirage 257 hull that was built under new ownership.
The Mirage 257 in 1997 ran right at 70 mph with a 502MAG MPI. Caraville ownership took some of the beef out of the boat (which was built for the Peuget Sound) which in turn lightened the boat so your numbers aren't far off.
The hull has a tendancy to chinewalk at 73+ mph.

Blue printing a hull bottom is a lot like labbing a prop. Simply put it involves truing the running surface. Removing any hook that may have been done by the factory or that may have occured due to issues with a trailer, lift or blocked improperly for any length of time. Also sharpening the edges of the strakes. You may have seen some more detailed discussion on this in other threads. In my opinion the first thing to do is take a straight edge (approx. 6ft.) and hold it against the bottom from the transom forward. If you can see a gap then there is work to be done.
