Should be good, but it depends on how they were cared for.

Stay away!

Mid and late nineties OMCs had all kinds of problems. Top bearings carriers coming loose and piston rings getting caught in the exhaust ports are the two main ones on top of a base load of unreliable electrical components and poor manufacturing quality.

Mark,

I have a late 80's Powerplay with twin outboards. Johnson 225 carbs. Never had a problem but they only have 100hrs on them so that isn't too much use. Seem to start well, idle well and fuel consumption is reasonable. For what it's worth. Let me know if there are any questions I can try to answer. There is a great OMC guy out West named Al Stoker if you want to ask him any reliability questions about the Ocean Runners you are looking at. He seems honest and I don't think anyone knows OMC's better than him.

Jody

BTW, its for sale in the classified section for $45k. Not trying to spam you.

Had a Johnson OceanRunner on back of a HydroStream.

Ran great mechanically for the time that I had it. Had a few electrical problems, needed 1 new powerpack and some trim solenoids. But I ran the piss out of this thing for years, the tach needle up was definitely up there.
