If your boat has thru the transom only exhaust now and you are going to add a switchable silent choice type system, make sure you have enough drop from the manifold risers before you try pushing the HO exhaust out the drive. Sometimes this conversion can get in trouble with water backing up into the motor if the original exhaust was set a little high. Get an expert to look at your setup if you are not sure, its cheaper than new motors!

Thanks for the replies guys... I think i'm going w/ the 4" Eddie switchabe mufflers, they look nice and the price is right,, half the price of Silent choice.. just wasnt sure about the air vs. electric actuation, I guess each has their pros and cons..

Chris,

Be aware that even with the 4" eddies you still have to enlarge your transom exhaust holes to 4 1/2". I'ts not too tough just a bit spooky.

Thanks,,, 4.5 is the diameter of the tip itself right ??, the sleeve where the exhaust hose attaches is 4" o.d for the 496 h.o. 4" hose I.D. correct ??

we are in the process of having sunsation build our boat, so they can just make them 4.5 to begin with,,,
