Re: Ignition Module

I will have to look in the morning but I am pretty sure that I have a V8-20R module that I took off my 1990 502MAG. I will let you know for sure tomorrow. I would be willing to let that go.

Any ingition can go south on you but it makes me a little nervous with a rotor that is held on with loctite ask "Carney". I carry a spare cap and rotor on board and don't want to wait 2 hours for the loctite to set up

Dennis Moore's book has a nice list of timing tables for the different V6 and V8 modules. I'll look it up tonight and reply to answer your question. The V6 has more timing advance than the V8's if I remember correctly. The MSD boxes look great and do cool things, but they are unreliable. Take any 10 users that have them, and you will have several that have failed.

That would actually be LESS advance. 14 deg. on a V6, but more like 10 deg. when used on a V8. (I know; Dennis says it's 6 to 10 deg. but in practice I've found it to be closer to 10) Lets you run a higher initial setting for better idle with wild cam blower motors having less compression. --- JP
