Ignition Module

One a V-8 how much advance will you actually get from one of the V-6 modules? A full 14 degrees or is it even less than that?

Anyone have a Thunderbolt IV V8-HP module?

Thanks

A V-6 module will give you about 8-10 degrees.

I have my blower motor set at 30 total and at idle I am around 20-22

Trouble Maker - I have the Thunderbolt IV V8-24 module that I will let go cheap. It is a 24 deg advance module. The timing on this module is 20 at 3000rpm which is the same as the v8-hp module. Set you initial timing at 10 deg and you are at 34 deg max at 3750rpm.

Thanks Biggus..

Powerguy...I've already got a V8-24 and a V8-22A... both give too much advance from where I need to set my initial advance.

I'm running mods that are maked "HP" . These , I believe , are for the older 420 hp models and give about 16* advance. The advance curve also doesn't start till 1400/1500 rpm and full advance at 3000. MY 540s have 35* total. These could be what you after;)

I was wondering if you would be interested in getting rid of the V8-22A module?
Thanks

Re: Ignition Module

I switched ignition out to full MSD and now I can dial it in just where I want it. It's pricey but Bob T. said that's the thing to do in the Aug. issue of Powerboat in his question/ answer section.

Re: Ignition Module

I like to listen to everything Bob T. says, cause he is a very smart and experienced man, but I don't really think that he is always totally objective. He SELLS MSD so nothing else is any good in his opinion. There are a lot of guys out there winning races with T-Bolt IV's and another whole lot having problems with their MSD's !! --- JP

I have picked up a V8-24 and two V8-HP (20* advance) off of ebay for around $50-75. Sorry, none of mine for sell.
