Supertech Oil

I was wondering what you all thought about running 5-w30 supertech oil in my 3 supercharged 454's? Seems I could save onsiderable money using the supertech oil and filters. After all isnt it just someone elses oil with a different name?

Well...if I had solid proof that SuperTech was the same stuff as Mobil1, etc., yes I'd buy it and use it.

But, a quick Google search reveals SuperTech is made by SafetyKleen, a Canadian oil recycler. Is SuperTech affordable because it is made from recycled product?

Do a little experiment, buy a quart of Supertech 20-50 from Wal Mart for $.88 and buy yourself a quart of Mobile 20-50 for $1.20 (obviously not synthetic) from the shelf right next to it. bring them both home and make sure they are both the same temperature by letting them sit for an hour out of the sun and pour each of them into your motor on your next oil change and time each pour. You will quickly realize that there is something very different about these oils. Seeing the obvious differences in the pouring results and knowing you will save $2.00 for every oil change doesn't make sense to me. Some of the Supertech oil filters carry an almost identical part number to Fram Filters but I have not cut one open to investigate and my suspicions lead me to believe that they come off the same assembly line. Your suspicions would lead you to believe I spend too much time at Wal Mart.

Oil is the life blood of any engine. I run full synthetic(Amsoil) 15/40. Only one engine, however I buy the best oil I can afford...the good / well proven oil may save your engine one day. Full synthetic is the way to go.

Supertech oil filters are built by Champion Labs. Same folks who build Mobil 1, K&N Gold, Amsoil, Bosch Premium. I like 'em better than Fram, been running them for years.

supertech oil filters use a very cheaply made paper media.....dont believe me just cut one open and look. The filters are total junk, but still probably better than the orange death.
