Removing Exhaust Tips
 

In trying to replace the stock exhaust tips on a Baja, I removed the screws but they won't budge. Are they glued or siliconed in? Any tricks to get them out? Thanks.

Probably siliconed in. I just pulled mine out. A real ball
buster!Pull real hard,the'll come.

I whacked mine side-to-side with a rubber mallet. They eventually broke loose and I was able to wiggle 'em out.

yeah you have to break them loose a bit, BE CAREFUL not to knock them too hard. Just put a little force behind them and they'll eventually break free. I know what your going through, just did mine not too long ago and was wondering if I'd ever get them out.

easy trick for removal. Use a small hydraulic bottle jack, some wood blocks and push them out from the inside. Works every time.

If they are stuck to the gelcoat with 5200 or something similar, pushing them out from inside will most likely take the gelcoat along for the ride. I would break them loose first with the rubber mallet (and perhaps a razor around the flange) before pushing from inside.

try some real thin piano wire and work it back and forth around the edge and behind.....that will cut the silicone away and help break them free...

Use a small butane torch and heat them up, use a pair of pliars and they will come right out. I had the same problem when i replaced my tips.

i would try airpackers method but just pit enough pressure to get them moving than take a long razor knife to the 5200 to free it from the gel coat.

Mine had o-rings behind a black plastic bezel on the transom. Once I got it out I couldn't get the o-ring back in.
